Not in any club/department? No problem!
BITS Pilani has loads of things for you to do no matter what!
1. SPORTS
Nothing could probably be better if you’re interested in them. Maybe you could find someone with similar interests in sports and pursue it along with them? To be honest, it hardly matters to anyone how you play as long as you DO! And of course, you’ll come out of SAC or Gym-G feeling significantly better!
2. Bond with Wingies
Your wingies could be the awesomest bunch of people you’ve ever met! And sure as hell, they are going through the same phase as you are. So whenever you feel bored or lonely, step out of your room and go say hi to that shy guy who lives around the corner of your wing. You may end up becoming great friends with him! The campus is more often than not abuzz with events and activities! It could be some cultural assoc’s ‘nite’ or an interesting EMBRYO talk or some event in the Audi – when you’re not in a club/dept, take your wing along. Some of the best memories are formed with times spent with wingies!
3. Learn a new skill – gain knowledge/experience.
Clubs like Robocon and RC often organize workshops where they teach you basic things about the work they do. Gurukul has vocal/instrument workshops. I remember some Dance workshops being held in my 1-1 by DC(Dance Club). My point is – step out of your room! Learn things, try a hand at stuff you are interested in but never got a chance to pursue. Attend Embryo talks – I’ve attended a couple of ’em and they are brilliant! If that does not impress you, enroll in some online course – add valuable stuff to your skill-set. These are those few years of your life when all roads are open to you, pick one and random as see where it takes you. Try whatever interests you: because a lot of times you don’t find your passion : your passion finds you!
4.Read books
As a thorough bibliophile I can tell you that our BITS Library has a giant, wonderful collection of books to read – fiction and non-fiction alike. Even if you’re not very much into reading, there will be books there that will interest you, so you can try giving it a shot. There can probably be nothing better than reading good stuff if you have some spare time at hand and wish to do something productive.
5. Try waking up early if possible.
If you’re already not an early-waker(Most BITSians I know aren’t), I’d suggest you to give it a shot and try to wake up early one day and step outside your bhawan to witness the beauty that surrounds you. Our campus is alluring, and its pretty much of an experience to walk down those empty roads when the sun is about to rise, the sky is a delicate mixture of orange and blue, the dogs of our campus stroll around searching for food, the birds chirp in joy in the skies, the trees rustle in harmony with the cool wind. The air you breathe is delightful…and along with that, this could be the time when you plan out your day ahead and/or reflect on your life.
