As an alumnus, I believe all of us have our share of experiences and take-away form our four/five years of stay at IIT (ISM).
- You belong to a very prestigious institute – Live the experience – All of us have probably worked a lot to secure admission at IIT (ISM). Feel proud that you belong to one of the finest engineering colleges in the country. But at the same time, do not feel content, for this is just a start and you have a long way to go.
- Your GPA matters – A lot! – You will meet several people (read, seniors) in your first year who would make you believe otherwise. But trust me, when it comes to placements and higher studies, your GPA plays a very crucial role. Maintain a decent GPA (around 8 – 8.5 at least).
- Some professors are amazing, the others are not – Accept it – There would be days when you would probably feel you could teach the subject better than the person standing in front of you. Make peace with it. But then you will get an opportunity to learn from some amazing professors too. (I still cherish my Operating System lectures).
