So I will try to cover each and every point that you have mentioned and also other things that comes to my mind and will try to give a deep insight of Ramaiah College. So let’s assess some points of Ramaiah as a B. Tech college:
- Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is decent. You will have pretty decent sizes of classrooms with a seating capacity of 70–80 students. Ramaiah has it’s own ground that too is of a decent size but it’s a little far from the campus ( approx. 300 m). The whole campus of Engineering is divided in 5 blocks & you will find libraries in 2 of the blocks. There is 1 canteen in the campus for Engineering students ( But there is bigger canteen in Law which you can use)
- Admission: So for admission in Engineering courses, you have to give COMED-K exam if you are from outside Karnataka or CET, if you are from Karnataka. You have to get a rank within 7000 – 8000 in COMED-K if you want admission in Ramaiah (& within 2000 if you want admission in CS or IS (IT)).
- Fees: The fee is at par with the other private colleges of the same level. For 2020–2024 batch, the tution fee is around 2 L.
- Faculty: Unfortunately the faculties are not that great (except a few exceptions). They are not well-versed with new technologies coming up.
- Exams: The exam patterns have been changed from the last year. So I will tell you the new pattern only. There are 2 facets of your total assessment in a semester: Internal Assessment and Semester End Assessment ( Each of 50 marks), so for Internal Assessment, you will have 2 internal exams each of 30 marks and after both the internals, the average of these 2 will be taken as final out of 30 and for the rest 20 marks, your professor will give you some assignments, conduct some quiz or simply can give a project. Now the next 50 marks will come from your Semester End Examination which will be conducted at the end of your each semester that will be of 100 marks which will be converted to 50 marks later. So your total score will be : Internals score (out of 30) + Teachers’ assignments or quizzes (Out of 20) + Semester End Examination (Out of 50).
- Mess: The food in the mess is not that great, except the breakfasts. Atleast at my time during (2015–2019) it used to be like that, I don’t know about now.
- Hostel: The hostel for the freshers are separate and from 2nd year onwards, there is separate hostel ( Called Aryabhatta block). In the freshers’ hostel there are not any private rooms, you will find only double-sharing rooms with no attach bath. But in Aryabhtta block, you will find some single rooms and some double rooms with attach baths but those rooms are limited and there will huge rush between students to get them. The hostel fee is highest in the 1st year ( For Fresher’s Block), at around 90k, and in Aryabhtta block it depends on the room you take. So for single room, it’ll be around 80k, for double-rooms with attach bath, it will be around 70k and for other double rooms with sharing bathrooms, it will be around 60–65k.
- Placement: To be very frank, the placements are very good for only CS & IT guys with an average package of around 7 lacks but for rest other braches, you will get placements but not in your core-stream, you have to go to IT field even if you have done Mechanical or Civil.
