So I got ECE in VIT, Vellore (quite happy about it). As a fresher, what should I do during the first few months of my stay there? What is the FFCS system?

Well I’m not writing any “Run away” answer, there are a few things you must do to make sure you get the best out of the college. Valid for all other universities as well.

Make a lot of friends. It is true that college friends are friends for life. They will be there with you when you get poor grades or are failing in a relationship. However you must also stay vigilant – it is said that your worth is an average of the 5 people you spend most time with. Having geeky friends would help you make a great career. Having cool party-goers would never let you stay sad. Of course you can have a mix of both.

Vellore is quite close to some cool happening places. Hike around to the Vellore fort. Go and spend an evening in the Zoo. Travels are more than sight seeing – they are more about strengthening your relations and friendship. Travelling teaches you far more than reading books in a room.
