Should I go to IIT Patna CSE or drop this year?

Definitely choose CSE at IIT Patna (well, this is a no-brainer). Why would you want to miss the opportunity to join Computer Science at an institution like IIT.

I understand that students do have that craze about joining an older IIT and are somewhat hesitant before joining a relatively newer IIT. But, IIT Patna was established around a decade back and has grown each day since then. The campus recruitment stats of IITP (on-campus placement reconds: Training and Placement Cell . Many students have been given Pre-Placement Offers at the most prestigious companies as well.) in computer science department is commendable to say the least. The CSE undergrads have been performing well in all the competitions and have been offered paid internships in various companies and notable colleges abroad. The college environment pertaining to academics is very good and is conducive to new research and development. All the seniors are very helpful and can work with you round the clock if you are dedicated.

Also, I personally feel that dropping a year does not necessarily mean improved rank in JEE Advanced the next year. I have seen two of my friends who dropped and got worse rankings that in the previous year. So, even though you might feel like dropping but remind yourself that you’ll have to work harder the next year to secure an improved rank.
