I’d suggest that you must attend the counselling if you’re hopeless about MAINS, or any other good college. You might not get your desired branch in the first round or maybe subsequent rounds, but there are various categories. Not to mention they are not openly available to people, so you need to dig it a bit from the people who are actually paying that extra fee. Also, I know numerous people who have come to VIT even at 80k rank, if it worked out for them, it can very well work out for you too.
Also, I’d like to add that, even though VIT has this category system, it is better than most local college you could take admission into. Mostly because of the crowd and diversity.
