I was placed through the campus.
Most of the recruiters shortlist only the ones who passed in the first attempt.
And the jobs on offer are always less than the number of applicants (We’re in India).
Also a comparison with IIT is misplaced.
A lot of CA freshers get placed through applying by themselves to various companies. Some recruiters do not prefer hiring from ICAI campus as it is expensive for them, and these placements take place only twice a year. Many a times vacancies and the placement cycle are out of sync.
These statisitics present only part of the picture. There are many reasons why students don’t accept job offers there. And the actual jobs that happen through one on one interactions outside the campus placement system is huge!
