his is honest review from a student of RVCE from CSE department.
College Management: There is no such thing as management system in this college. We get to know about the exam one week before and even that is through Whatsapp groups and no official mail is sent to us. The teachers also inform about the syllabus of the exams 2 days before the exams. The teachers want us to give them good feedback otherwise result won’t be given. There is no coordination between teachers and departments they overlaps each others classes. The management and academic decision doesn’t make any sense. Even though Bangalore is IT-Hub of India, RVCE reminds of pre-1947 where we needed to do lots of paperwork i.e college isn’t digitized.
Academics: The course structure of our college is much outdated which has no present relevance in modern industry. We all have to maintain 85% attendance otherwise we get NSAR(Not Sufficient Attendance Requirement) which will happen even if you passed all the exams with good marks due to which you can’t sit for the final semester exams resulting in fastrack where you have to clear all the 3 internal tests, labs and Experimental Learning(where you’ll be asked to make dumb presentations) again with SEE(Semester End Examinations) within one month. They conduct 3 CIEs to waste time again and they didn’t decide the syllabus and all that before and everything we got to know about by Whatsapp group and have to keep asking teachers; no official mails come in. There is a shitty platform like Quiklrn where you will get wrong derivations and solutions to problems. Also there is a report section where marks and attendance aren’t get updated 90 percent of time. College management and the teacher inform about the syllabus at the eleventh hour. Library doesn’t stay open all the time and in holidays and weekends library is closed. Even though they have enough space to accommodate more students in library they will say there are no coupons left and will send you back. College time is 9:00 AM to 4:45 PM for 3+ days and rest days there is so called half day in which you will be burdened with assignments and make notes like a school-going kid. I’m not sure if this college can assure the bright future of students, if they keep continuing with these practices.
Teachers: I must say that the teachers teaching here are not very competent. I say this because they become very uncomfortable when asked about the latest development in technologies. They are qualified enough to teach what they have learnt at their times; most of which have lost its relevance in today’s time. Here’s the funny thing
ostel & Mess: Washroom aren’t well managed and there is no water jet in the bathroom. It literally stinks. They closed big canteen and said it’s because of covid and kept mini canteen open (relatively where more crowd gathers) and that’s how they maintain social distance and also it was mandated by them to stay one person in a room for covid you still have to use same washroom also they haven’t notified us about covid cases what happened before hand.
Coding Environment: There is no such environment here which a student require s to become a competent programmer. Some teachers even say to stay away from Competitive Programming. Sucks, right? Though Competitive Coding is encouraged by IITs, IIITs and BITs and in Waterloo, however, teachers here will say not to do competitive coding. And don’t talk about development true development is rare in IITs also copying some youtube video is not development.
Sports Facility: The ground is not well maintained here and there are wild grasses growing here; they won’t give you equipments. Cricket pitch is made of cement. Gym is not open most of the time and it’s very small and poorly equipped. It’d be a lie if I say that the long tennis ground is not good.
