Like all forms of freedom, this one also depends on how you choose to use it. You could use it to bunk classes and mess your academics up.
But, suppose, a course has 2 sections, taught by 2 professors, zero percent attendance also means that you don’t need to attend the section you registered for if you don’t like the professor. You could just go and attend the other section. This is not a hypothetical scenario and is in fact quite common.
Zero percent attendance could also help you attend classes that you didn’t even register for, if you are interested in what is being taught.
