Everyone who joins BTech (sometimes MTech) think about placements for a particular institute and it is the perfect way of deciding. Remember, this is a National Institute … be it new or small … it’s a national institute. It has its own brand value and its own contribution to research. And now it’s no more new and in 2/3 years of time it’ll be no more small. It’s getting its own campus getting done.
Coming to placements, you will get very good opportunities to prove yourself. Samsung, Siemens, Valuelabs, Amazon, Unisys, Commvault and many more visit campus, highest being offered is 16.5 LPA and minimum is 6 LPA (as of now). Really, you will get an opportunity to prove yourself provided you are good enough for that job. Don’t go with the numbers (placements percentage). It’s obviously less compared with other older NITs than NIT Goa. Because students here are not the top rank students and few of them will not be eligible for placements also ( be it less GPA or higher studies plan). This reduce the percentage. Look for the companies that visit. Believe me, college tries a lot for the benefit of students and encourage everything that is productive. Be it new idea for start up or new approach for a problem or research funding.
Coming to MTech, VLSI is having upper hand I can say compared to EEE and CSE. It doesn’t mean they are bad. But always there will be only one winner even though everyone is a pro player in the race.
