I am not sure about Hyderabad but for Goa it’s a big fat yes. You will get internship opportunities at mech firm which you should be able to convert to a job offer but that is subjective to the firm.
As for placements, that happens in 2 semesters. In our case 1st sem of 4th year was the one where some core mech companies visited the campus. So top students are usually able to secure a job. But pay is usually lower than average CS student. In second semester no core mech companies visited the campus.
Some mech students also go for MS while rest move to IT or non-tech sector
