The answer to that question is an Yes and a No. If you can get out of MSRIT CSE in flying colours certainly it is worth it. Unfortunately in most cases those who end up with the management quota are useless and so it makes no sense to invest on them.
Incidentally I know of a couple of students who got into RVCE, who joined lower branches with absurd ranks in CET or COMEDK and yet got into CSE by merit using branch change and are in the top 10 in the class. One of them is my son, who was into Athletics from 5th to XII std and was not wasting his childhood in FIITJEE or Allen from 7th std. He decided to focus more on studies in RVCE and is a ranker in CSE now. While I did not need to buy him a seat in RVCE as he got a COMEDK rank to get ECE (his CET rank might get IEM in RVCE at best), he not only branch changed but is a ranker in the most demanded branch in RVCE namely CSE. (Incidentally he got MSRIT CSE in the first round of COMEDK.) Now if you or your ward has that potential, certainly it is worth buying the 18 lakh seat in MSRIT. Another example is a girl who got a low COMEDK Rank, joined Civil in RVCE and branch changed and is a ranker in RVCE CSE.
