Well if you have a look at Sudhanshu’s answer then you’d infer that these courses are not that different. You can refer to placement statistics in his answer. Let me add a little of ‘actually what happens’ in the answer.
My roommate during the 2nd year was a guy from software dept. Very focused, diligent hard worker and branch topper.
So one day, during exams I asked him ‘bhai, ho gayi tayyari?’ (Brother, have you prepared?) to which he answered and i quote ‘yaar teacher ne 10 questions diye hain jisme se 7 quesion paper me ayenge aur un 7 me se humein 5 answer karna hai’ (the teacher has given us 10 questions from which 7 will be in the question paper out of which we have to answer 5)
A few days later I got to know that this was the same situation with a few of the CSE sections too. They already knew all te questions.
So if you want to compare the academia then sir, there is not much difference. If you want to compare the culture then again, no difference.
As my friend already said that it depends in you. Going the extra mile. Working hard. Choose any field, just give the best you got. If you love programming then go for either of the two. All you should possess is the love, the flair for coding.
Not to brag, but i completed my btech in aerospace engineering and i know java, c, c++, matlab, sql, html, javascript etc etc. Branch does not matter. Your will does.
