I think joining any new program has it’s demerits. The first batch is the one that suffers the effects of these demerits the most. Based on their feedback, the course is polished and improved.
I don’t know about the Manipal’s IPM programme beyond what their website tells me. However, my personal guess as to the demerits would be
- Course is not well known yet, which means recruiters may be hesitant to hire the students given the fact that they have no prior experience with Manipal’s IPM students. So the first few batches may be at a disadvantage, placement wise, atleast for the first few years of their career.
- Expensive (total course fee is around 18 lakhs as per Manipal website)
- Possibly hectic schedule
- As a student, you will not have any senior who has experience with the program to seek advice from. This is a minor issue, but I felt I should mention it.
- No existing clubs/committees/fests specific to the program, i.e. the program is too young to have it’s own culture.
