Is it advisable to opt for a 5-year integrated MTech programme? How is it to pursue that in Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT)?
I’ve completed Mtech Software Engineering from VIT University. I would say, you can go for it without hesitation.
Pros:
- Same placement opportunities when compared to B.Tech.
- Combined 5 years fees of Mtech will be lesser than that of Btech in VIT. Within 2–3 years you can earn the money that you have put in for college fees.
- Learning more programming languages comparitively. Android, python, advanced DBMS were few of the additional courses that we did extra as part of Mtech (2017 passed out).
- One more year of relaxed college life with friends.
- Usually 12th std marks are considered for Integrated Mtech admission.
Cons:
- Apart from Infosys, I believe most of the companies have same package for Btech and integrated Mtech.
- Basically u ll get a job at 22 years whereas Btech person will get the same job for same package at 21 years.
