I am currently a student at the Department of Management, BITS Pilani and I will try to answer this question as per my experience at this program.
MBA at BITS Pilani has a lot of similarity with other b-Schools but also at the same time it has its own unique features. According to me, for a course to be called good, it is completely dependent on an individual’s expectations from that course. For me, MBA@BITS Pilani fulfilled those expectations in the unique features or I should say USPs mentioned below:
Practice Schools – In the fourth Semester students are facilitated by the institute to take-up a structured and evaluative internship for a period of 6 months. These Practice School offers a corporate exposure to the students and makes them industry orientated before they step-out of the Institute, which I believe, is the need of the hour.
The most important thing is that since it is a part of the curriculum so instead of you searching for a company, you are allocated a company by the Institute for this internship. There is a pool of around 500 reputed companies that have a tie-up with BITS Pilani.
Teaching Assistantship – Working as a Teaching Assistant is something that is quite relevant in the entire BITS campus. You can apply for this TA at start of the semester and earn not only a stipend of around Rs. 60,000 in that semester but at the same time, get exposure to the vast and wide knowledge of the faculty/professors at BITS. This experience is highly significant as it is something like a practical learning scenario.
Return on Investment – This is certainly the trademark of this college as BITS offer the MBA Programme at almost 50% fees as compared to other b-schools. Entire fees structure for two years is around 9-10 lakhs and it effectively comes down to Rs7-8 lakhs since you earn using TAships and Practice School (6 months). And can you find the average placement to be around 9.2 lakhs which makes it a great return on your investment.
General MBA Degree – Contrary to most of the b-schools in India, at BITS, you get an MBA degree rather than a diploma. The MBA degree is offered as General Management which also means that you have the liberty to choose some of your subjects in the 2nd & 3rd semester as per your interest in your field and make your profile in them. These electives can be from any field like operations, HR, marketing or finance.
BITS Lifestyle – At BITS, you have absolute freedom and resources to invest your time and knowledge in the field where your interests align. BITS Pilani is a brand when you talk about Institutes in India and it has become that by the Lifestyle that it offers to the student at the campus. Flexible Attendance Policy, Student Activity Centres, Campus Infrastructure, Inclusiveness among students from various degrees and the general rules & regulations at BITS Pilani makes it a complete institute for the Students
