There are many colleges that are private but are registered under state govt Universities. So it is always better to register under a state university. Many of my friends are doing BTech from KCC Institute of Technology and management, which is a private college, but affiliated to AKTU which was earlier called as UPTU. KCC Institute has excellent placement opportunities which is shown in the result of placement record.
