Build clear goals.
I have seen many students who prepare for JEE for the sake of it. I’d rather say that before you start your JEE preparation, be very clear on your goals about the rank you want to achieve. For instance, when I started my JEE preparation back in 2011, I was very clear that I wanted nothing lesser than a top 100 rank and IIT Bombay CSE. To my surprise, after 2 years, I managed to get a top 50 rank rather.
Make a clear and concise goal for the next 2 years. It could be something like:
- I want to get into IIT Bombay CSE which closes at about AIR 50 and so, I want to get a top 50 rank in JEE Advanced.
- I want to select my branch and institute rather than branch/institute selecting me. So, I need to get so and so rank.
- I want to get into IIT Delhi mechanical which closes at AIR 700 and so, I need to be among the top 500 JEE rankers
