I am BDS 3rd year student. I want to do MDS in oral and maxillofacial surgery. What is the right time to start preparation for entrance exams and how to do it?

Basic rules of Preparation for MDS or NBDE is the same.

Best is to start preparing the moment you start your internship. The reason for that is because academic pressure of classes, exams, assessments, practicals, clinicals, viva etc are already done and over with and now your entire schedule only includes treating patients.

  • The first three months keep all your pg entrance books aside and take out all your text books and reference books.
  • Start with basic subjects. The stronger your basics are, the better and clearer your knowledge is.

For eg – If your Head and neck anatomy and osteology is well learnt, you are very clear about all the foramen and the vessels & nerves passing through to ease your grip on maxillofacial surgery of final yr.

Similarly if your Dental material is well learnt, you will have a better handling of Cons, Endo, Prostho.

It is always best to start anything from basic level and then go upward.
