I can’t afford the luxury of simple morals, but my actions during the last few semester made it a competition between me graduating, and my campus throwing me out. It made no sense to me, I was a good researcher, respectful to teachers, active in campus activities, but I smoked, drank, and indulged in a few other contrabands, which for some messed up reason counter-acted all of the above. When you graduate, you graduate from 2 people stuffed in a loo at midnight, watching for the hostel warden, to a fucking 2 BHK which is your personal bachelor pad, where the kitchen counter offers an assortment of intoxicants and delicious munchies. - Boring:
I have worked in a startup, I have worked in a huge MNC. People around you are idiots. To be fair, I don’t think campus did not have idiots, but you had a choice to not be with them. There were 2000 people in campus, and among them some remarkable individuals, who you can choose to surround with. An average lunch conversation in 3 minutes could swing from the hot chic in the batch who resembles a certain porn star to hypothesis on construction of a utopian society. On the other hand, one time at work, I used the term tautology in a conversation, and someone looked at me, as if I asked for their kidney. Fuck! - Expensive:
In campus, in my 1-1/1-2 I used to spend 15K a semester, and was sufficient. In 3rd/4rth year, as Old Monk turned to Single Malt and contrabands grew common, this figure went up to 70K a semester, where with your Acco/mess food paid up for, you could live like a King for 5 Months in about 70K. Now I struggle to get through a month in 50K. - Choose two among three:
A wise man once said (or it was stoned friend on top of the water tank), that at any point in life, you can choose 2 among the three out of Time, Money and Energy. Campus was Time & Energy, now it is Money & Energy. Each has its pros and cons, but the shift is undeniable.
