This is how July 20, 2015 was:
7:35 AM – reached Delhi after a tiring train journey [it was the first time I was travelling alone and that too by a late night train].
8:00 AM – reached PG, met roommates [for the first time], freshened up.
8:30 AM – decided what to wear [didn’t have to, till school], packed my bag [yeah, a serious student – though I put only 2 notebooks and a couple of pens], locked the PG door and went to college.
8:40 AM – was sitting in the room where orientation had to take place. Saw many unfamiliar faces [thankfully, I had my roommate to talk to, she was my classmate as well].
9:00 AM – orientation began. HOD and other staff members introduced themselves, gave a verbal tour of the college, shared their beliefs and wished us the best. Then they asked us to introduce ourselves.
9:15 AM – my turn came. I wasn’t sure of what was going on [everyone before me had said “Hi, I am X, from city Y and I scored $$% in 12th”.] I didn’t know this accounts for an introduction. So, I stood up and said, “Good morning, my name is Shweta Arora, I did my schooling from PDAV School, Jalandhar, which shaped me into the individual I am today. I am glad to be a part of the Kirori Mal family and hope that I contribute as much to its glory as our notable alumni have.” The teachers smiled and nodded. I sat and the next student continued with “Hi, I am X …”.
