I can’t comment over other universities but VIT Chennai is quite good for CSE.. There is absolutely no difference between Vellore and Chennai in terms of infrastructure, Academics or Placements.. Infact being a lesser crowded campus it’s easy to excel in Chennai than Vellore.. the campusing will be taking place combined in Vellore.
Companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Cisco, De shaw, eBay, sap labs, Code nation, Mckinsey, Intel, Qualcomm,Adobe, Texas Instruments, Nutanix etc visit VIT and offer package 10–30lpa(may go upto 40lpa)..
research is also done on by some faculties in the department.. Many journals are produced and patents are filed.. Many bright students have opt for higher studies and got into the best MS admit from this department..
Its a pool of opportunities and it’s upto you and your capabilities that how much you can take from here.. Overall I can assure you that if you put in your hard work, VIT won’t disappoint you..
