I studied at IIT Patna from 2011 to 2015. We were in the temporary campus in Patliputra colony. Now IITP has shifted to the permanent campus in Bihta so many things I talk about will be slightly ifferent a couple years down the line. Also, this answer will focus on the B.Tech side of things and the scene for M.Techs and PhDs is different when it comes to the workloads and general life.
So, with that out of the way, let me first talk about the professors. Who they are and how they treat their students in general informs a large part of how your 4 years will go. IIT Patna has 12 faculty in the ME department, 11 being Assistant Profs and 1 being Associate Prof and HOD. All are full-time faculty members (IIT Gandhinagar, I am looking at you). Now while I can’t obviously go into the specifics of which teacher is the best/worst in what because I don’t have my degree yet 😀 but let me just say that the teaching standards are really good if you know how to maximise your effort in class. That is, some of them are notes-oriented and some are more discussion/ppt slides oriented. So, if you can change your ways from class to class, you should be good to go.
