After getting your JEE mains score and rank,you are required to fill a form online(notification will be on JEE main website) about what college and what branch you want with basic information about yourself .Then after some days you need to lock the choices you made for colleges so that you cannot modify them.Then within some days the first round results will be declared. Regarding your rank you will be allotted a choice which you filled and if your rank is low for every choice of yours then you won’t be allotted any.Then you need to go to the college where the councelling process is going on(follow every notification on JEE main website,the college will mostly be the NIT in your state) with required documents like your rank card,board certificates.You have to then pay some amount(by demand draft) for the seat the you got. Don’t worry you can wish to upgrade your college so that in further round of seat allotment the upper choice you filled will be considered.(If you got choice number 5 in first round then in second round you can get choice 1–4 depending on how many people paid the money confirming their seats).There will be 3–4 rounds of councelling.You don’t need to go to that college or the college you got in every councelling.When you want to lock the college you got in any round of counselling you need to go to that allotted college and lock your seat and do your admission there.If your seat is not upgraded in further rounds of counselling then you have to go to the allotted college in the last round of counselling and do your admission.Then after some days classes will start.
