Personally, I am a big fan of counseling and especially for students, here are my reasons why:
- It can be a soundboard
- It can be a place to talk about things you might not talk about with your friends
- It is like having a mentor
- You get a different perspective from someone who might not share the same views as you
- They will challenge your decisions and make you justify them
- They will get you to explain your thought process
- You can do it in confidence
There are so many reasons as to why they can be good for students. A student can feel isolated at university because they may not have many peers or friends and then stay in their own world, but this way they can have their ideas tested!
