Hey there. Before i start i just wanted to say sorry but it really depends on you, the no. of study holidays you get, the time you study each day, etc. Most of the other answers you read on quora are like the author(answer’s) just reads for a fortnight and does a few sample papers and boom! Lands up on a 99,96,98,95….. . However i don’t know the credibility of such answers. Based on what happened to me i’ll split the message in two:
1)I scored 90+%
2)NOBODY talks about the effort you have to put in! At this stage it’s more like madness. I even used to study for like 5 minutes after the reporting time…..in my house! And i was the last student from my school to walk into my centre for 4 out of 5 exams.
Anyways, I kind of went through something similar.ONLY THAT I HAD 29 DAYS FOR BOARDS.
my level on day 1: I know 30% of entire twelth syllabus.
I had very less time…just 29 days. Here’s what i did for my prep:
English: i spent only one day for english on a whole(avoiding time spent for completely useless compulsory homework). Yes, i read english only one day before the exam. I wasted so much as half a day on reading the insides of the non-detail. I know u guys don’t have it from now onwards. I read half of supplementary book by 6 o’clock. I was for the first time in my life scared of english! But i heard it’s ok to skip a lesson. But i did’nt…. I did’nt have time to read the remaining lessons with as much depth as the previous ones. So i just went through them happily like a novel(back then, it was really hectic!).
Physics: I have to thank my teacher for this one(never thought i’ll ay something like that!). She made three mini booklets for all sorts of formula, graph and diagrams. And then there were her notes. For the lessons i missed (OPTICS!!!) i got the notes from a friend of mine. Also attempted all examples and did’nt care about the exercises at the back, like 0%.
Chemistry: I hated this whole subject as much i liked the physical part. Apparantly i left one lesson, namely AMINES. I just read all named reactions..thrice. BUT I MADE MNEMONICS TO REMEMBER AND IT WORKS! They say ncert+5 papers from past years(D+OD,i just did OD) is sufficient for 100%. But i could’nt complete chemistry because of my APPROACH. So,the best advise i can give for this very subject alone is most people will get stellar marks if they change the way they percieve this subject. And sorry if that sounded very diplomatic.
Also bonus tip for chemistry. Write and see all the reactions from a page in ncert before you read any theory ESPECIALLY for organic chemistry. I wasted around 20% of the time studying orgainic very inneficiently. If i had to did it all over again i think i’ll change the way i studied for this subject alone.
Maths: I’ll be frank. I love the subject. I just did the ncert thrice and nothing more. I had 5 days study holiday. During this time i aimed for 24 question papeers. I could only do 15 past year + 1 model + 1 sample(official) papers. I did’nt even touch ncert during this time! In all this hurry-burry I still took some time to tear out all the formula pages from NCERT SOLUTIONS book. Along with that i filled few pages with special case scenarios in my diary and even carried it on my way to the centre. I revised these formulae and cases everyday for 5 days. PLUS i came up with idea for these two during the study holiday for maths! Sorry i was’nt frank(see up).
ATTENTION: This is a very crucial point. For my cs exam alone i has 14 days study holiday. Since it was last exam I could’nt use it for other subjects. Now had i studied all 14 days I am sure i could have hit 99–100. BUT yours truly Mr.Muttonhead had other plans like watching fast and furious and opening my new phone which was gift and was’nt supposed to be opened until end of boards. BECAUSE of this i lost 5 days! And i was an absolute beginner in programming. In fact i was so casual for this one subject that during viva when the examiner looked at all the variables and file names in my project for the first time so did I! FUN FACT: It did’nt have a file which was the sole purpose of the project presentataion. But i got full on practicals because i was in the good books of my teachers for being just honest and slightly disciplined.
Computer science: I had to study entire C++ portion for class 12 + last 2 lessons of class 11 ALSO(basics) in the coming 8 days. The ninth day i did… okay take a deep breath….10 Question papers. It was a mix of emotions that fueled me to get there. I remember saying to myself something like -study this one day, suffer for this one last time, and live forever as king!
My marks:-
Eng-93
Physics-95
Chemistry-85
Mathematics(It’s not “maths”)-94
CS with cpp-96
Oh and by the way screw your preboard marks. I had three pre boards my total avg score in all subjects without practicals were 50%,51% and 58%. So now you know how I was throughout the year. BUT wait. I did’nt completely answer your question. How to get more than 90% .
Here’s how. You DO NOT make a time table. It hardly works for people studying this late. Instead you make something similar. You make a ROUTINE. Do the same thing at the same time every day. No page on the internet can decide your routine.THE BEST ADVISE I CAN GIVE IS WAKE UP AT 5 IN THE MORNING AND SLEEP AT 10 IN THE EVENING. Now listen. Time is short. Just learn the chapters that are most interesting and carry the most marks first. You guys have only half of the syllabus we had(excluding maths).
Out of all the subject, maths took me the longest…followed by chemistry, physics, computer science and english. But in terms of marks chemistry comes at the lower end. I wonder why?
I’m not some random pain-in-da-but who wants to write long answer and get flooded with upvotes. I am writing this because i wish somebody had told me all this stuff right when i had 29 days left. For I had very less time already and my school left hardly 10 days as holiday before the boards. So do not expect school FREE-FEBRUARY.
There will be moments whare you want answers to all of situational questions. I too had and searched them on quora, internet, etc.I JUST WASTED 4 TO 5 HOURS. INTERNET DOES’NT ANSWER THE SITUATONAL QUESTIONS THAT I AS A STUDENT CAME UP WITH IN THIS ONE LAST MONTH. SEARCH FOR THE ANSWER WITHIN YOURSELF. If you don’t get it don’t waste time with motivational videos. These are temporary solutions. Instead whenever you feel confused do a question from the sample paper book. Use it often. There will definitely be similar questions in exam. That way you would’nt have wasted time.
Now having said all that, one last thing.
AIM FOR 95+ in total(or in each one, if you can afford it,ie,work for it)
If you manage to pull something off as grand as 95 in 30/45 days, you’ll be damn happy, have a huge sense of satisfaction and who knows, you’r pic will come in a few pamplhets/newspapers.However if you aimed for 95 but ended up getting more than your situational expectations you will definitely be happy as well as satisfied but you shall forget about the pic (LOL). Nevermind, if you do get less than 95 you can always write an epic answer about it on quora,ie,like i did. And surely, your effort will have it’s moments.
