How do average middle class students who crack BITSAT manage to pay BITS Pilani’s very large fee?

  • 0

I am a middle class student, cracked BITSAT, paid the first semester fee with a lot of difficulty, came to the campus, went to dining hall, found a stall put up by SBI, had taken a student education loan(though with some time consuming paper work).

And now, each time I receive a fee demand form, I’ll be submitting it in the bank which looks after my entire college fee including food and accommodation. Not a penny from my father’s pocket except for my other expenses here.
There aren’t any provisions for East India or any other students, BITS is unbiased on any grounds except merit. There are 3 types of scholarship here and depending on your merit and need, you’ll be given 25, 40 or 80% of the tution fee.

Edit 1: This is all in the past. But BITS Pilani has doubled its fee from 2013–2018. The tuition fee was ~80k per semester when I joined in 2013. Now, it is ~160k per semester. Considering the Return on investment for non CS branches, I cannot advice any middle class guys to go for it.
