How difficult is studying computer science for someone who doesn’t excel at math? Which branch of study is suitable for me?

  • 0

Unfortunately, computer science is a subset of mathematics, if you’re high disinterested in mathematics, then you would be more suited for programming, but I guarantee you that an employer would much rather prefer a Software Engineer or a Computer Scientist to a programmer.

Programming is a skill, skills can be learned and skills can be forgotten. However concepts which are taught in mathematics and computer science can help you develop those skills and achieve them faster than before. If you don’t excel at mathematics I would highly advise you spend more time with it.

Unfortunately, this is a misconception that exists ubiquitously in society. People think that “Math is hard” and therefore choose to not study it as hard as, say another “fun” course. You don’t excel at math for two reasons:

  1. You don’t try hard enough.
  2. You don’t try hard enough.
