have got a seat in mechanical engineering in category 1 at VIT Vellore. Shall I join? Are there any better options in future?

Mechanical Engineering is a very vast and dynamic subject. I’ll say it demands a lot of dedication. So, proceed if you are genuinely interested in the field. Access other options and if you are sure, then you are good to go.

Now, coming to Mechanical Engineering in VIT. VIT Vellore has a very good reputation in the industry. You’ll get some really awesome faculties in the field, and of course, excellent infrastructure. The great mix of technologies, software and cutting edge industry consulted curriculum makes it possible for VIT to produce well rounded professionals. Because, it’s the way we learn the subjects, with experienced faculties and VIT follows a way of learning through doing and seeing, which gives you a deeper knowledge of the subject.

You can choose from a variety of courses in Electives that you find interesting, thanks to FFCS. There are many clubs and chapters, and if you are into extra-curricular stuff, you can join them. Students of these chapters have won many international competitions of the mechanical related streams.

The sad part is, the core companies are not that big and do not provide very huge packages like the non-core do. But a lot of companies do visit the campus (core as well as non-core companies) and there’s a high chance that if you work hard, you can get a dream offer.

Hope this helps.
