Most of the Public sector undertaking’s recruit CA/CMA’s as Executive trainee’s (Finance) through their own recruitment notifications. Very few PSU’s participate in campus placements for CA freshers. Some PSU’s which participated in August, 2016 were IOCL, BPCL, RailTel.
Being PSU’s, they follow reservation rules for recruitment as per Government of India rules. The short listing criteria (For IOCL- August,2016) for general category students was, minimum 60% of final marks. For reserved categories it was a bit lower, around minimum of 55% of final marks.
I was shortlisted for Indian Oil Corporation Limited(IOCL) interview. After short listing of students, IOCL conducted a group activity similar to this situation, http://thepersonaldevelopmentcafe.com/images/stories/Desert_Survival.pdf, followed by an interview with panel.
The selection depends on combined performance in interview, group activity and marks obtained in their respective categories, not just the marks. One of my friend, who cleared his CA final exam in multiple attempts was selected for RailTel Corporation, as the Interview panel was impressed with his knowledge. They don’t select only ranker’s, they select people who are best suited for the job.
