DHARWAD: Education plays a key role in the development of a person, society and country, so efforts must be made to ensure that nobody is deprived of education, said Hubballi-Dharwad police commissioner Labhuram.
At the Founders’ Day programme organised by Karnataka Education Board at KEB High School, he said people should be aware of sacrifice and dedication of the founders of educational institutions which have provided quality education for a century and strive to maintain high standards set by them.
Labhuram hailed Shrinivasrao Rodda who established Karnataka College and Karnataka High School along with KE Board in 1917-18 and played a key role in getting Dharwad the ‘Vidya Kashi’ tag. “Students, teachers and the managing committees have a greater responsibility of continuing the good work done by those associated with the institutions all these years. The management should think of introducing new courses keeping in view changes in technology and science.”
The top cop felicitated teachers and non-teaching staff who have made special achievements during the academic year.
KE Board chairman Shrikant Patil presided. secretary D S Rajpurohit, treasurer Srinivas Parande, V C Kubal and others spoke.
