I did.
I got a score of 398/450 in BITSAT 2019. This score is enough to get CS in BITS Pilani, Pilani campus.
I underperformed in JEE Advanced 2019 and ended up getting a rank of 3407. My performance in JEE Main also wasn’t that great either (99.7%ile).
My interest was in electronics and coding, as I am involved in these things since quite a long time.
So, I had these choices:
- The easy choice – Take CS in BITS Pilani.
- The moderate choice – Take Electronics / IT in NIT Surathkal or Warangal
- The tough choice – Take an old IIT with a branch that I did not want and try for a branch change.
When I did an analysis, I found that – considering the fees of BITS, it wasn’t worth it. I didn’t want to spend the initial years of my career paying off education loans. I also was struck with the fact that, I was preparing for JEE with the aim of getting into an IIT. BITS wasn’t even in my thoughts, and I had given BITSAT casually, just to have sort of a backup.
The same line of thinking went for NITs as well. I didn’t want to go to an NIT.
