BITS Pilani is one of the few lucky universities in India with no caste based reservation and/or management quotas. That being said, there are a few quotas at BITS Pilani:
- Board Toppers – Toppers of the CBSE and the state boards get direct admission into BITS Pilani without giving the admission test (BITSAT) into a stream of their choice. There usually are around 10 students per batch from this quota.
- International Students – International students have an admission quota in BITS Pilani via the SAT. International students have higher fees afaik. And these seats are limited to around 50 people (please correct me if I am wrong)
- Toppers from Birla Schools – Meritorious students from Birla schools in Pilani get direct admission to BITS Pilani. But they do not get a choice of stream unlike board toppers. The are only allowed to pursue the MSc. General Studies course in BITS Pilani (Which is not an engineering course). This quota has limited students of course. And since there’s a different branch only for these students, it’s probably wrong to call it a ‘quota’.
