I graduated from Pilani campus in 2012 (Mechanical Engineering). And, most of my batchmates, seniors and juniors joined higher degree courses elsewhere or changed their field afterwards (wrote UPSC, became writers, entrepreneurs and so on). The point is, if you want to figure out what to do with your life/career later, and you are short on the money part, then I suggest you to choose a government funded institute over BITS.
Also, not many people understand this, core placements are equally bad everywhere in the country (thanks to our industrial policies). So, it is totally ridiculous to pay 16+ lakhs for a degree in Civil/Mechanical/Chemical (no offence) at BITS. Just get done with your degree somewhere else and plan the next step accordingly. However, you may think of taking a loan if you are getting Computer Science, as there is a very high chance you will get placed at a very good pay package. Also, in case, you can partially afford to get the admission then there is a provision of merit-cum-need scholarship at BITS. It is given after the first semester based on the CGPA and family income criteria. You may check the latest criteria online or by directly calling the campus.
