International Relations, by Shamuel Tharu.
This class was so good, I started to like to like it more than all my CDC classes in my 2-1.
- Brilliant course content: The subject by itself had a lot of interesting world history and political theory that a lot of people would just lap up. From all the world wars to the Chinese Revolution to Terrorism, it explored a lot of global issues today and aimed at giving us a lot of insight into those issues.
- Brilliant Text Book: The text book is absolutely incredible. Though its really big, it just doesn’t feel like you’re reading a text book. It feels like a magazine, and is fantastic to read. It gives you deep insight into a lot of issues, and after a while, you really start to put the whole world into perspective and understand why certain decisions by world politicos and diplomats are actually made.
- Fantastic Teacher: For some odd reason, I cannot stand a teacher whose English isn’t good, or a teacher who speaks with an accent. Mr. Shamuel Tharu’s accent is actually next to impeccable, and his English is really good. The best thing about the way he teaches is that he makes an effort to debunk stereotypes, and makes us think again about a LOT of things we actually took for granted. Sexism, terrorism, corruption, and a lot of other social issues were debated on in class, and a lot of very interesting views surfaced from everywhere. However, HIS opinion at the end of the day would actually end up to be the most interesting, and one that seems closest to the right answer too. Though its not a surprise that the teacher is always right, its the fact that he makes us understand how the right answer is arrived at was THE BEST PART. Sometimes, we realized that there was just NO right answer.
