It’s possible because I know of people who done it. Because I don’t want you to hound the guy on social media 😂, I’ll say he got a top 10 rank in PGI in the last session and managed to score very high (255+) in step 1.
This requires a very high amount of dedication which I Frankly won’t suggest as you should have better things to do and explore during MBBS than study all the time for 2 different types of entrances plus your University exams and quizzes. Plus writing step 1 itself is what? 50,000 rupees? Unnecessary waste of money unless you’re ABSOLUTELY sure that’s what you want.
He ended up dropping US plans and is doing Medicine here only and for academic reasons, not because family is here or some other lame justification.
So talk to people who have already spent a couple of years there in residency and decide.
A UCMS grad told me he’s miserable there (in Jersey) and his friends here in Delhi are having a lot of fun. He plans to move back next year after finishing his last year of residency.
I’m also going into third year and contemplating whether to get a Marrow subscription or UWorld to start prep for PG/USMLE. 😂
