UPDATE January 2022 : As of now there has been no new update regarding NExT exam , probably due to covid. The guidelines , pattern , number of attempts of the exam are not yet released by the NBE. The answer below was written when this NExT exam was announced so the points written below may not hold relevance today. There will be a scope for improvement of score as per the latest rumours. Anyways , I don’t think that NExT will be implemented for 2017 , 2018 batch atleast and these batches should prepare keeping NEET PG pattern in mind!
NEET PG vs NEXT
a) 19 VS 4 Subjects
Earlier all 19 Subjects assessed the doctors knowledge but now only 4 subjects. Also there is only one year to study these Long Subjects so its kind of a gamble for us.
b) MBBS students may ignore 1st and 2nd year subjects and may have less knowledge of basic sciences.
c) It will be easy for foreign graduates to get license. God knows what they study. Thats why only a fraction of foreign graduates were able to pass MCI exam.
d) No 2nd chance to improve rank to get good PG seat because NEXT is only one time exam and can’t be taken again.
I guess all these points are enough to scrap this shit exam and stupid bill.
Also what’s the point of exit test ? If a student is not good so he will fail in final year in the University exam so what’s the point of arranging a national level exam for this purpose. For PG all the subjects are important to be assessed. Compare this to USMLE which also has all the basic sciences as STEP 1 . And these STEP 1 scores matter the most.
I pray that this bill does not pass
