Is it true that from now onwards the NEET PG entrance exam will not be conducted?

  • 0

Say No to NMC and NEXT ( Yes NEET PG wont be conducted in future)

  • We have enough time of 3–5 years

This is a weak argument in my opinion. It’s like saying we should not bother about Carcinoma in situ because it will need 3–5 years to metastasize. Till then let’s not panic or take any action against it.

  • Why am I comparing NMC to Cancer?

The NMC will be 29-member body which would comprise of 20 members selected through nomination, and nine through election. In simple terms NMC will have more members which are nominated by Government giving Government absolute control over Medical Education over country. Source: National Medical Commission Bill introduced in Lok Sabha

  • The Committee and it’s lack of transparency
    • We all have read the draft which contains words like “The Committee has strong opinion xyz”. Now the question is who is this committee and who have gave it authority to imply it’s strong opinion on medical education.
    • How could nominating members by Government will make it Transparent compared to Democratic elections where every Doctor cast vote and participate?
    • Why will the nominated members work for betterment of Medical Education instead of Government? In my opinion NMC will become a Pawn in the hand of Government.
  • Exam and Lack Of Transparency
    • We all know vague details like a Supreme Exam will be conducted which will replace all examination and bring NEXT.
    • Nothing is mentioned about the pattern, format of the exam. There are rumors of all kind but in the Draft it’s Mentioned The Committee will decide everything.
    • We are not even sure who the Committee is and no clear guideline means either the Government has no road map or it have already decided the pattern but did not release the same fearing mass protest like 2017.
    • Having maximum nominated member in the Committee also means that concerns of Medicos may go unheard.
    • Passing a Bill with no transparency shows the Government is scared of debates and discussion. In Democracy there is a important role of discussion on public platform and lack of it suggest ominous signs. The Government has 5 years of term and I am unable to understand Why they are in hurry to pass a law whose provisos are not clear?
    • After a law is made, it becomes difficult to modify it and if it’s the reason for passing the NMC in such great hurry then it is unfortunate for the Country.
  • Surgical Strike on Coaching?
    • Many People are considering that Coaching Industry will take a Hit due to this. In every Medical College we can find Professor who have strong disliking towards MCQ exams and PG preparation.
    • But How will introducing NEXT will suddenly improve the teaching quality in Medical College? Majority of Students join Coaching as to get guidance and better teaching which lacks in Medical College.
    • One of the major work of coaching institute is to guide students to help them to CRACK The exam. Having a Supreme exam like NEXT will increase coaching business in India as more students will get enrolled in them. Majority of MBBS students avoid coaching during course will enroll from First year as Cracking NEXT will get them license and PG seat.
  • NEXT the Supreme Leader
    • A Final Year University exam grants a Doctor license to practice Medicine in India but he has to pass other three University exam. Exams have practical and theory of all 19 Subjects. The pass marks PAN India is 50% irrespective of reservation.
    • A NEET PG is just for admission as a Trainee Doctor in a Medical College. NEET PG does not provide a license to practice Medicine or certify someone as legendary Doctor. After getting a seat Candidate has to Train under a Consultant and Pass the exam to get Degree. It has reservation rules and pass marks are different according to Caste of Candidate.
    • A MCI screening exam is to screen Doctors which is devoid of any reservation.
    • The Pass Marks in NEET PG is actually low compared to a University exam and contrary to Popular belief every year after the initial results the pass mark is reduced because seats remain Vacant. It’s not easy to pay Crores of Rupees to Medical colleges or fill seats of non clinical branches.
    • Hence three exams completely different serving completely different purpose with different reservation policy and pass criteria how will magically be combined. Will it be fair?
  • AIIMS PG and other Central Institute Exams wastage of Money?
    • The Central Institute exams are conducted twice a year with paper having moderate to Hard difficulty level. The exam is to cater students who have understood the concepts in depth.
    • The NEET PG just like NEET UG has easy single liner questions with ambiguous language and options. Doing few mistakes means you are out of race.
    • Now if everything is just combined and made one how will it cater the requirements of every student. One Bad day and You will loose your license plus PG Seat
    • It’s also not uncommon to find Students who don’t perform well in NEET but do good in AIIMS or vice versa.
  • NEXT new CBSE class 12 exam?
    • It has become very common to see high scores in CBSE exams. This year the topper scored 499/500 and it was a subjective exam.
    • I won’t be surprised if same happens with NEXT. There is also a possibility that the pass marks will be based on Percentile instead of Percentage.
    • The Private Medical colleges has to run their 50% seats which wont be Government regulated and there is a chance that exam will be a high scoring or passing made more easy.
  • Bridge Course a Reality
    • The new bill does not mention regarding giving lateral entry to AYUSH practitioner.
    • It Speaks of again vague things like preparing a Middle Cadre between MBBS and Paramedical Staff who can prescribe Evidence Based Medicine in Primary health center.
    • Just like all other clause nothing is clear that from where this Middle Cadre will come and how much they will be trained.

At End : There is nothing clear or fair about the bill. The Provisions in the older bill were outrageously offending and it met with strong criticism and protest by medical community. The New Bill have just made everything Vague and lack of debate and discussion on it with Government in great hurry to pass it clearly shows Govt wants to impose the rules without meeting any resistance.
