IIT (ISM) Dhanbad got the IIT tag last year. The placement and the research facilities are pretty good. It has a got a well maintained campus with a decent area size. Moreover, large amount of construction works are still going on in the campus. It’s own mall is under construction inside the campus. And a fully centrallised air conditioned technical library, the largest in Asia is on the verge of completion.
If you compare it with older iits, it’s pretty much comparable to them in every aspects. It is undoubtedly the best college you can get in India for earth science brances ( Mining, Mining Machinery, Applied Geology, Mineral and a few more). Besides that, other branches have developed a lot in the recent years and with the iit tag, these departments will be at par with those at older iits in recent years.
It has a vast alumni network in public sector, probably the largest you can find among any iits. It has a MHRD funded faculty development centre, one of it’s kind in the whole country. A Central Research facility is being constructed in the campus in collaboration with Australian Universities, after a MoU was signed during Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji’s visit to Australia last year. A lot of centrally funded projects are also going on in the campus.
So there is no way you compare IIT ISM Dhanbad with the newer iits.
