Is computer science (B.Sc Hons.) from Delhi University better than a B.Tech from a private university regarding placements?

  • 0

Hey there,

If you are getting admission in TIER 1 colleges like IITs, NITs, IIITs NSUT,DTU,BITS(either of the three campuses), Thapar, VIT Vellore(Category1 or 2) and so on, go for it. Doing BSc(H) Computer Science from DU is far better than doing B tech from private engineering colleges like VIT Vellore(Category 3,4 or 5), SRM, LPU, Chitkara , Shoolini etc. These private colleges boast a lot about there placements like 39 lakhs, 55 lakhs bla bla bla. There are various factors which determine your placement like:

1.Your potential

2.Recruiting companies

3.Number of students for a post(which no one notices)

If you talk about VIT, getting admission in its main campus in category 1 or 2 is beneficial because there your total fee including hostel and mess would be 4 or 4.5lakhs i.e. for four years it will be around 16 lakhs .Now don’t say that it is a heavy amount. In IIT Delhi also your fees for 4 years is 16 lakhs and for B tech you will have to invest 8 to 16 lakhs. The only exceptions are Jadavpur University and Cluster Innovation Centre of DU. In both of these colleges your fees will be a very less amount. Now if we talk about category 3,4 or 5 in VIT, it is really useless. There is no point in investing 20 to 24 lakhs in Btech of these colleges.
