I’m in first year currently so I’ll only speak about that. The current pattern goes somewhat like this:
Each semester is evaluated as 50 marks from internals and 50 from externals.
The internals are further divided into 4 assignments and two sessionals. The assignments are 5 mark open book tests. But don’t be fooled. The open book concept makes little to no difference when you see the questions you are presented with.
The sessionals are 15 mark tests (not open book) that are a combination of MCQs and subjective questions.
In addition to this you will have labs and lab exams which may or may not include viva.
Overall I wouldn’t say there’s much pressure from anyone. Though if your marks do fall below a certain number the respective teacher will contact you asking for reasons as to why you have performed poorly and they will offer remedial classes (which are optional of course).
Ultimately the grading does become relative to how the entire batch performs. I will say that it is easy to pass but not so easy to do well.
