I think I can answer this question as I did my B.Tech from SRM University- Ramapuram Campus and I did ECE. 2015 passed out.
As I am writing this answer the memories of my college life runs all over my mind and with that flow I am answering here ..
The class will have around 50 students and each and everyone of them will be from different parts of India . In the next four years try to learn new languages and get friends from all parts of the nation and this will definitely help you in your life..
In the first year , Just enjoy ..See all the places in and around Chennai or may be Tamil Nadu also. Play regularly. If you don’t have the habit reading start doing that . College is the place. to explore and do that.Its not very tough to get 8.5 Cgpa,three days of preparation will get you that .Have 75% attendence without fail and I am not going to say attend all the classes but if you are in the class be attentive. That’s it.
