Is it worth pursuing chemical engineering at Vellore Institute of Technology?

Coming to your question. Well there are two cases : –

  1. You are getting chem in VIT,Vellore in category 1 and some circuital Branch in VIT Chennai- I would tell you to first consider your VIT Chennai branch. If you are getting any circuital branch( eg- EEE , ECE or EIE) take it as placement opportunities increase drastically for these branches as they can sit for Software jobs as well as core companies. The companies allowing chemical students reduce substantially. (out of 10, 7 allow circuital branch students and 5 allow chem eng students). Don’t worry about placements as the placements for VIT Chennai and VIT Vellore take place together at Vellore Campus.
  2. You are not getting a circuital branch at VIT Chennai- Take up Chem engineering at Vellore. If you want to shift your branch study hard in 1st sem and slide your branch. Otherwise if you find chemical engineering interesting , study hard in your branch and you can secure a good core job or go ahead for higher studies( a MS maybe).
