How are Indian students treated at top institutes like MIT, Harvard, Stanford, etc.?

  • 0

Pretty much the same way as native-born Americans, Japanese, Chinamen, Germns, Dutchmen, Swedes, Greeks, Egyptian, Congolese, Argentinians, Australians, Indonesians, Canadians, Mexicans, Fiji Islanders, and everyone else are treated.

Indians are expected to carry their own weight in classes and in study groups, to be regular and productive contributors in class, to study diligently, and to behave in a gentlemanly manner.

At places like MIT, Harvard, and Stanford — and, I believe, every other worthwhile institute of higher learning in the US — no one really gives a damn about where you were born, or where you grew up. You are expected to have a fair degree of fluency with the English language, and to have a sound secondary school background. Or a sound undergraduate degree, for graduate programs.

Why do you ask? Are you expecting some sort of preferential treatment, because you are Indian? Sorry, but it’s not going to happen
