Well I passed out from Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore in 2019 and so I think I am qualified to answer this question.
A little background into the options which I had would give you all an idea why I chose VIT, Vellore in 2015.
I had secured 94.25% in ISC board. That time board marks carried weightage. I had qualified JEE mains( 20 to 25 marks more than the qualifying marks). However with this score I was only getting North East NIT and some other low ranked NIT’s. I wasn’t interested in these NIT due to some reasons. I didn’t qualify for Advance.
In Bits I scored 280 – 285 which again is not sufficient.
In UPSEE which is a state level engineering exam for UP, I had scored 3000 rank which was guaranteeing me a seat in government college.
In VIT my rank was around 8000. Don’t remember the exact rank.
I hadn’t appeared for any other exam.
So I had to chose between VIT and UP government college. In UP government college, the fees would have been lesser but placement in those times weren’t good. So I chose VIT vellore. I wasn’t aware about category system. So I chose ECE in category 1. I didn’t get CSE in vellore which was my first preference.
Now coming to the review.
