Both universities are equally good. But as a I am a mechanical graduate from DIT University , so I can give you the idea about mechanical engineering scenario in my college.
Only one thing is important here and that is attendance. All faculties will ask you to maintain the attendance upto 75% and then they will make you believe that CGPA is everything. No extra curricular activities are provided by the university. Yes there would be several workshops which will provide you some usefull knowledge but that you have to do on your own and don’t expect any support from the University, they will not provide you the attendance for getting involved in any extra activities.
Only 2–3 things are good in the campus, which are the clubs and teams related to mechanical and automobile department who takes part in the competition like Formula Student design challenge and BAHA at national level every year like DIT MOTORACING, AUDICIOUS.
I too was involved in DIT Motoracing for 2 years where I learned a lot about automobiles and worked for 8–10 months in workshop where I got very useful experience.
So if you are coming to DIT then start working in your field from the first day by your own. Just go to college to score 7.5+ CGPA and that’s it. Try to learn as much as possible related to your department and learn every softwares which are really useful for any mechanical engineer.
All the best for your future.
