Jamia Millia Islamia is Central University with a minority status. It has many courses but the likes of Engineering, Architecture, Mass Communication and Dental studies are most sought after and one of the best in the country despite one of the cheapest.
If you can not get admission in SPA, IITs and NITs, then Jamia is definitely a very good option. Its very economic and the facilities you get here are at par with IITs and NITs. On the placement part, its not like IITs but not bad at all.
If you are from south and you can not get admission in other southern university of same repute as Jamia, then you can definitely thinking of moving to New Delhi in Jamia. In the vicinity of Jamia, there is a very good south Indian community with various background. You would love it.
Now coming to the next part of your question: Is Jamia safe for a Hindu? Well 100% safe and secure for anyone. Its a secular university with very secular view point as far as student affairs are concerned. Professors and Staffs do not discriminate based o religion, caste, creed or culture. What I am saying is not just theory but practiced every day in Jamia.
