Which is better VIT Vellore or RVCE?

  • 0

I qualified for Computer Science and Engineering in both colleges and I went with RVCE. So did a couple of my friends. I won’t say any college is better than the other but I can say what influenced my decision to choose RVCE.

  1. The Batch size: The branch sizes in VIT are large. Almost five times the same as RVCE. It’s more difficult to get noticed by companies.
  2. The Weather: Vellore has horrible weather. Summers are terribly humid, and it’s difficult to survive. Bangalore by contrast has perfect weather.
  3. Proximity to the IT core: Bangalore is said to be the Silicon Valley of India. The closer you are to the action, the more you gain. There’s numerous opportunities and crazily good placement.
  4. Co-edness: I’m not really an expert on this because I haven’t experienced this first hand, but from what I’ve read on other Quora answers, combined with what I’ve heard from friends who did go to VIT, the college is extremely conservative, in that it separates males and females as much as it possibly can. People of different genders aren’t allowed to sit together. I’m not advocating the PDA culture, but both genders are in the same college, and have ideas that should be shared and work in collaboration. A toxic environment like the one above would merely act as a deterrent in the academic and social progress of students.
