I had to make the same decision and I chose CS in MIT Manipal.
The reason I did so is because of a few reasons:
- MIT has less restrictions on you and there is much more freedom compared to VIT.
- VIT has too many people in each course. (730 in CS in Vit compared to ~200 in MIT)
- Admission to MIT is purely based on your rank and while VIT admission is also based on rank, they have different ‘categories’. Basically it means that someone whose rank is 20k would study with students with 1k rank just because they pay more fees. This dilutes the quality of the class.
- VIT marking scheme is completely unknown and there is no transparency.
- I got ~9k+ rank in VIT but <50 rank in MIT. I got 100% scholarship from MIT.
