Do something extremely noteworthy, on more than one occasion, and over a long period of time.
Become educated within the field; learn the history, the trends, and the obstacles blocking breakthroughs in the future. Continue with your education…you’ll likely need at least a Master’s degree, but probably a Ph.D.
Attend seminars and conferences, and consider presenting at these events. Discuss case studies and topics that will generate interest.
Publish, publish, publish. Develop an online presence; write white papers; write books, either electronic or hardback. Have a blog. Use social media.
Become a mentor to others. Create a new generation of computer scientists.
Work within the industry. Solve problems. Be a “thought leader” within software or computer engineering.
